How to get work permit in Thailand?

You have now your employer and the next thing you do is to get your work permit. Let's say you already have Non-Immigrant B Visa and you're ready to apply for your work permit.

A new policy is required in Department of Labour and Employment, you have to bring with you a Thai teacher with your documents. But to those who are renewing their work permit in the same school. No need to bring a Thai teacher with you. 

These are the requirements for a  teacher's work permit in Thailand
1. Filled up form with your employer signature (available at Department of Employment)
2. Employment Contract (written in Thai and English)

3. Reference letter (written in Thai and English)(no need for renewal)

4. Medical Certificate

5. 3 photos (size 3x4 cm)

6. Photocopy of passport

7. Photocopy of Visa

8. Photocopy of Employer Identification Card

9. Photocopy of Educational Certificate 

9. Payment is 3100 baht for 1 year or P 1600 for 6 months

They will give you first a receipt when you pay 100 baht. This receipt will be needed to apply for a Non-B visa since the work permit is currently on a process. They will give it to you when you come back or after a week.

They will give your work permit more or less than a week, that's the time you will pay 3100 baht for 1 year or 1600 for 6 months. If you are in a new school they will just give you 6 months. If you renew your work permit you will be given a year. Renew your work permit a week before it will be going to expire.

If you are planning to move to another school make sure to surrender your work permit so you won't have any problem later. You should not work without your work permit and you should always bring it with you. The immigration officers sometimes visit schools and check if foreigners are working legally means if they have a work permit.
