Hatyai Chedi Traiphop Thaimongkhon is located at Punnakan Road, Ko Hong subdistrict, Hat Yai, Thailand. The steel temple was built on the top of Khohong Mountain. Open from 6:00 in the morning to 9:00 pm. For Google map click here.

You can get there via tuk-tuk for 400-500 baht, but it really depends upon your negotiation. The temple is 15 minutes drive from the city center and located at the back of Prince of Songkhla University. If you are traveling by car just use the GPS to get there. The road is concrete and slope. You need to drive carefully as it is quite a zigzag road. Some parts of the road don't have lights so it dark but it is safe to come here at night.

Inside the Steel Pagoda

The steel made temple has two floors, definitely made of steel. Inside the steel temples showcase different photos and Buddha statues. It has a steel stairway up to the 2nd floor. The heat of the sun reflects the steel and make the temple hot on a sunny day. You have to leave your shoes behind as you enter the vicinity of the steel temple and please wear a comfortable or decent dress. Wearing sleeveless, spaghetti strap dress, short and mini skirt are prohibited.

They have photos that show the life of Buddha. The zodiac sign structures are on the right side of the temple. It's the best place to pray for Buddhist believers. A lot of tourists come to visit this place but it is not a crowded place. Although it is at the top of the mountain you can't view the panoramic scenery of Hatyai City. The trees covered the view and make the place warm.

The best time to travel is around 5 in the afternoon since it's not hot anymore and they will light the steel temple at 6:45 in the evening. They have a big cemented parking space and the public toilet is clean. The place is well maintained. It is free to enter here. They have a donation box in the middle if you wish to donate some of your fortunes.
