Wang Sai Thong Waterfall is one of the most amazing waterfalls I have seen. About 125 kilometers away from Hatyai and about less than 2 hours traveling. Wang Sai Thong Waterfall is located at Moo 10, Nam Pood Sub District, Muaeng La Ngu District, Which is 28 kilometers away from Kham Paeng Municipality. Google map click here. It's my first time seeing this kind of waterfalls. It's really one of the kind. The water spread so wide that makes it look like a curtain. The rocks are carbonated so it's not slippery and you can move to other ponds easily. The carbonated rocks created outstanding ponds. Each pond has different sizes and it's so many that each one of us can have our own mini pool. We have got our own pond and my nice also had her own.
The waterfall has a lot of trees, shading you from the heat of the sun. It's very cold here and the wind is breezy. It's like waterfalls inside or within the virgin forest. The old trees add more exotic beauty to the place.
You can easily reach the main source of the water. The water origin is from a small cave-like and the rock formation spread it like a curtain. It seems like the water originated inside this mountain but covered with rocks. Just take a risk and climb up to the water origin but take extra caution even though the rocks are not slippery.
There is a written explanation about this place in the parking lot that says Wang Sai Thong Waterfall is a waterfall where water is originated from a water body in the cavities of the Karst limestone mountain by outflow down below the hill slope into the Langu River. It is regarded as a tufa waterfall formed when the water over the carbonated rock absorbs calcium. Aquatic plants which grow on the rocks in the stream and in the air provide carbon dioxide during photosynthesis and water running which precipitates the calcium from the water to deposit it as a layer of tuff. on the surface of the waterfall a process that takes millions of years. This tufa precipitation forms many curtains in the form of many levels of terraces with spectacular water ponds and water curtains under the shade of canopies. Forest protection unit of the KhaoBunthad Wildlife Sanctuary provides the parking lot.
When you see this sign on the right side it means you have reached your destination. Just in front of this sign, you can find the ecotourism where you can do the kayaking. Don't miss the kayaking while your here. Just a few kilometers from here, you can find the other caves that are worthy of your visit.
The best time to come here is on summer or hot days. Avoid the rainy days (November to January) because the water current is not normal and they won't allow locals to come here. It is better to research the climate or weather before planning to come here.
