Tone Ya Plong Waterfalls Hatyai

Wednesday, June 6, 2018

The Tone Ya Plong Waterfalls is located at the back of Kohong Hills. Google map click here. It is 13 Kilometers from the city center. This is still not a famous waterfall since the waterfall is hidden in the foot of the mountain. To come here, you must take the main road going to Songkhla and turn right when you see the sign of the name of the school Hatyaipittayakom in Namnoi intersection. Then pass the school and before you get to the bridge turn right. There is a narrow but concrete road beside the bridge. Do not cross the bridge. Then just follow the concrete road until you get to your destination. On weekdays only a few locals come here but a little bit crowded on weekend.

You will reach first on a dam site, you can park your car here then there's a little bridge that you need to cross to be able to get to the hidden falls. Just follow the trail on the right side to get to the falls. The hidden falls is 1 kilometer away and you can only get there by motorcycle or on foot. You need to go down a little bit to reach the stream. The water is clear but because of the clay sand, it makes the water murky.

The falls is not so high and there is a hard rock over the falls and young men jump on this rock going down. That's a little bit terrifying. You should bring your own mat and lay it on the flat rock around the stream. There are no shops here so you need to bring your own snacks.  The place near the stream doesn't have any improvement yet. It stays as it is. You can only seat on the rocks since there is no cottages, table, and chairs around here. The water flows slowly so it is safe for the children. The water near the falls is very deep if you can't swim then don't come near the falls.

You can also swim at the back of this falls. Locals come there too if there's a lot of locals swim in the area near the waterfalls. There are a lot of trees around that makes this place shady. The wind is cold here and you can hear the sound of nature and the chipping birds.

The best time to come here is on weekdays early in the morning since the falls is not too big. If a lot of people swim, the water becomes shabby. Locals come here mostly in the afternoon. Avoid coming here during rainy days. The trail going to the falls is a kind of clay so it's muddy when it's wet. There is no public toilet and bathroom here. I hope they will have it someday. Even if it's hidden, the place is safe.
