Malai Temple and Cave Phatthalung

The Malai Temple is located at Phaya Khan, Muang Phatthalung District, Phatthalung. Google map click here. It's near the city center and opens 24 hours a day. So you can come any time of the day. Kindly wear decent clothes when you come here. Temple is considered to be a sacred place for Buddhist believers. If you are looking for a tourist destination in Phatthalung, consider this place.

The temple has a big cave in the middle and near the parking lot. They have a wide cemented parking lot in the middle of the mountain. There are monks who live here. The road going to the mountain temple is concrete and the temple is well managed.

There is a paved-cement stairway going to the top of the mountain. They called it Stupa Temple. From this place, you can see the panoramic view of the province of Phathalung. The temple is very quiet and there are lots of dogs here. Because I am so afraid of dogs, I pick a small trunk to make the dogs afraid of me. They keep on barking though and never stop until we leave this place.

There are only a few people who come here. In fact, when we visited this place, we are the only one who roams around. We tried to go near the cave but we weren't able to go inside. It's quite scary for two people to go down in the cave. Although we really wanted to see what's inside the cave. When we look around, we found no one so we skip the cave. Maybe next time we visit this temple, I will come with my friends and will surely enter the sacred cave. We go home very disappointed for not able to go down the cave.

Along the unnamed road going to Malai Cave, you will see the Khau Ok Thalu Viewing Point. You can stop by on this place and take a photo. Most of the people who come to Malai Cave stops here.

The cave is not visible from the parking lot. You need to find this mini temple below and the hidden cave is at the back of this structure. You see this temple, it has a gong look alike. Maybe if you want to go into the cave, you need to make a sound out of it. For the monks to be aware that someone goes into the cave. Although, I am not sure about it because the script is written in the Thai language. You can leave your comments below if I am right or wrong.
