Than Nam Yen is a local park in Khao Chaison District of Phatthalung province. It is open for 24 hours but the restaurant and nearby shops open from 9:00 am to 6:30 in the evening. This is the only park in Khao Chaison District, google map click here. It is a famouse tourist's destination in Phatthalung Thailand. At the back of the rocky mountain is the Khao Chaison Hot Spring. It is just a walking distance from here. The park is big and there's a lot of things to do here.

Locals usually come here to have a picnic. This park is quite crowded, especially on weekend. You can do paddle boating here and go to the cave inside of this big rock mountain. They have 3 caves here the Namyen Cave, the Lorkor Cave which can only be entered by boat and the tiger cave.

In the middle of the park, you can see the information both and tourist assistance. You can buy a ticket here to explore the two cave. You can go boating inside the Namyen Cave and Lorkor Cave for 200 baht per ride. Maximum of 4 people per boat and 30 minutes cave exploration with 2 tour guides. The entrance to go inside is narrow and the tour guide told us to lay down on the boat to enter the cave.
Num Yen Cave
The local tour guide cannot speak English well and they are trying to explain what's there inside the cave in the Thai language. Inside the cave are the different rock formation, a lot of bats and white snakes. The water level inside the cave is not too deep, around 3 feet high. The cave smells a little bit bad. We have seen the white snakes on the tube of the cable wires. It looks harmful but it is still scary in my eyes. If you are happy with their service, you can give tips to the two tour guides.

There's a lot of shops around if you want to buy snacks. Locals bring their own mats and food here to have a picnic. The place has a lot of trees which shade you from the heat of the sun. It is a good place for relaxing and taking photos. You can go inside to their tiger cave but there's no tiger there just a tiger structures.

They have a wooden bridge which will take you to the man-made waterfalls and you can climb up to the top of the waterfalls which overview the scenery of the park. Although it is not really high and the stairs are made of steel. It is safe to climb and take the other stairs which is safer and that lead you to a restaurant.

The name of the restaurant is Tan Numyen Restaurant. It is located beside the Than Nam Yen Park. They serve local food and fresh fruit juices. Thier side dishes cost 80 to 200 baht while the fruit juices are 30 baht. The food is delicious and the price is reasonable. The staffs are costumers friendly. They can speak English a little. We had our early dinner here before going to our next destination. We ordered fish soup and stir-fried vegetables.

The parking space is free and very big. There are free tables and benches around. The public toilet is also clean. The best time to come here is any time of the day. It's an open space so the park is free from locals and tourist. Do not miss this place when planning to come to the hot spring.
