Not all the vegetables grow with good soil. There are vegetables grown hydroponically root and grow faster than traditionally grown plants. I found a garden in Hatyai that uses this kind of method. They grow hydroponic lettuce. They only have this vegetable on their farm. Hydroponic lettuce is one of the easiest vegetables to grow, that maybe the reason they only have these vegetables. They grow two kinds of lettuce, the green, and the violet color. I don't know the difference between the two aside from the color because both of them taste the same for me 😉. I don't want to research either because for me both of them are nutritious.
I love to mix it with other vegetables like carrots, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, white onions, hard boiled egg with balsamic vinegar for dressing. I put it on my sandwich and vegetable rolls. You can find a lot of recipes online using lettuce as an ingredient. It's very useful for me because I am trying to minimize the white rice I eat every day. So, I prefer to eat fresh vegetable salad for meals.
The hydroponic lettuce vegetable garden is located at Kanchana Ramet Road, Klong Hae Hatyai Songkhla. It's near the Kho Mee Market and beside the Seven Eleven. Google map click here. They are selling fresh hydroponic lettuce for as low as 20 baht per pack. They are open from 8:00 in the morning to 7:00 in the evening.
The location is easy to find and the garden looks great. I find the lettuce very healthy in their plant boxes. It makes me want to eat it but we aren't allowed to touch the hydroponic lettuce. We can only adore them with our eyes. If only lettuce can speak, probably it will say "Touch Me Not" 😉. Moreover, the owner is very friendly and well accommodating to us.
