Things to do at Hatyai Park

The Hat Yai Municipality Park is the center of attraction of the city of Hat Yai. It is the most famous place in Hatyai. For Google map click here. It's very huge and divided into different parts. There are temples, structures, shops, and the King Rama IX monument. I list down the things you can do at Hat Yai Park.

1. Picnic
The park is very big and you can go picnic anywhere you want. Mostly, locals set up their mat beside the lake. There are shops nearby. Bring your own mat or if you don't have a mat, you can just buy a ready to paint figurines and it comes with a free mat, small table and color paint brushes. You can now place your free mat anywhere you want near the shop.

2. Skating
You can go skating around the park but usually, children do skating on the covered court in the middle of the park. This covered court can be used for recreational activities. On festivals like Loi Krathong and other important celebration, they conduct program here. On other occasions, local Thai bands are having concerts here. So, if you have skating shoes or the children have brought it with you.  They can do skating with other children around.

3. Jogging/walking
A lot of locals do jogging or walking here every morning and in the afternoon. I and my husband always do jogging and walking going to the top of the Khohong Hills. The view from the top of the hill with makes your recovered from being exhausted from hiking. The panoramic view of Hat Yai is beautiful in my eyes.

4.  Zumba
In the afternoon, locals gathered on the stage near the shops to do Zumba. They were dancing with the local music. Everyone is welcome as long as you will pay 10 baht for an hour of dancing. They Zumba will start late in the afternoon around 5:30. The Zumba is available every day with different dance instructors.
