Traveling Around Songkhla For A Day

If you are staying in Songkhla for a limited time but you want to travel places as many as you can. Let me help you with your travel plan to visit Songkhla just for a day.

You can rent a tuk-tuk for a day, just negotiate with tuk-tuk driver but I really don't know how much he will ask you for day service. You can also rent a motorbike for 200 - 250 baht a day, you're going to give your passport to them as collateral or can even hire a car or a taxi which is more expensive but it better to ride in an air-conditioned car.

You must start as early as you can so you can go travel around the tourist destination in Songkhla as many as you can.

First stop is the Wat Khao Kao Saeng, it's a temple on the top of the mountain. They recently renovated this place to be one of the tourist destinations in Songkhla. The Khao Kao Saeng Temple is located at Chalathat, Bo Yang, Mueang Songkhla District, Songkhla. Google map click here. Before this temple has a lot of dogs which makes few locals come here. But now, they renovated this place and enhance the facilities. More and more locals and tourist-visited this place.  The temple is visible from afar since they built it on the top of the mountain. Next stop is the Samila Beach, you can have your breakfast here. If you didn't bring any food you can buy instant food at Seven Eleven nearby. Samila Beach is the most famous place in Songkhla. Google map click here. The Golden Mermaid statue is the symbolic figure of the province of Songkhla. It is known for its white sand beach and shade pine groves. It's nice to have a picnic here. You can either bring your own mat or rent a mat at the shop. Read More

In front of the Laem Samila is the Seree Park. You can go this way going to the Wat Tang Khuan Hills. For Google map click here. The newly built artificial waterfalls were added as one of the tourist attraction at Seree Park. There is a viewing point at the top of the hill. Read More

Your fourth destination is the Wat Tang Khuan Hills. Khao Tang Kuan Hill is 105 meters above sea level, situates the ancient monuments consist of ancient Pagoda (Phra Chedi Luang), ancient rest house of King Rama IV and the lighthouse. The Phra Chedi Luang is one of the most important monuments in Songkhla, in 1996 King Rama IX gave the Buddha. Read More


From here you can go to Laem So-on Naga. It's a dragon head that is located at Bo Yang, Mueang Songkhla District, Songkhla. It's open 24 hours a day. Google map click here.  This dragon structure was divided into 3 parts. The body is at Sculpture Garden Chaloem Phrakiat. It's a park with a small lake not far from here. The tail sculpture was displayed in Samila beach near Tinasulanon Stadium. Read More

You have you cross the Songkhla Lake to reach your next destination which is the Ko Yo or Yo Island. You have to take a ferry, the ferry is free if you don't have a car or vehicles. They only charge the vehicles and the price differs. A motorcycle is 5 baht and a car is 20 baht. Prices are subject to change I guess but it is really cheap. It's a 10 to 15 minutes ride but the queue is long especially in the afternoon.

Your next destination is the Wat Laem Phranon Laem Pho. Wat Phranon Laem Pho is located at Koyo Mueang Songkhla, Thailand. Just passing through Tinsulanonda bridge you can see the back image of the Golden Reclining Buddha. google map click hereThe reclining Buddha is really big, I guess about 25 meters long if I'm not mistaken but definitely not less than 20 meters. Your last destination is the Songkhla Historical Park. Click the link for more information about this place. You can place your mat somewhere on the lawn and take a rest. You can rent a bicycle for only 20 baht for an hour of cycling. This park is huge and a relaxing place to stay.
