We wake up at 3:00 o'clock in the morning to come here. We traveled from Hatyai to Sadao for more than an hour by car. Since it is our first time, we came to the wrong place. There are two temples at the bottom of the hill, so make sure you arrived on Khao Le Buddhist Park. Google map click here. This place is still unknown to tourist's and in the future, it will definitely one of the tourist's destinations in Sadao Thailand.
Be sure to bring a flashlight, water and wear comfortable clothes for hiking. Read these guidelines and reminder for your reference.
From Sadao Hospital on the right side, just go straight and you will see the building full of lights. That's the registration area. You must fill-up the form and they will give you an ID number. When everyone is ready. A pick-up car will take you to the higher level of the hill. From there you will start hiking at pass at 5:00 o'clock in the evening. The hiking will take more than 30 minutes to get to the Khao Le or Bald Mountain. The faster the group moves the better.
We will go hiking in the middle of the virgin forest. I fear snakes but it's good that the snakes still fall as sleep. We haven't encountered snakes in the middle of the trail. We pass a mountain, this mountain has an overview of Sadao at city lights. We rest in this mountain for 5 minutes and continue hiking again until we reach the Bald Mountain. They call it Bald Mountain because the mountain looks like a bald head.
Many tourist and locals go hiking here at Khao Le to witness the foggy morning. Sometimes the city and the hill are covered by fogs and it looks like you were there among the clouds.
Sad to say, when we get there. The fogs hide from us and just a few patches of fogs left. Very disappointing because we came here to experience being with the clouds. It's OK the view from the top of the world is simply amazing. I did have fear of heights that's why I didn't stay close to the cliff. I always make sure that I stay in a safe area.
Other people like to post "Buwis Buhay" in the Filipino language means in English a post where you stake your life just to take a photo. Not me, I love my life 😅. Happy for them, they have the courage to do something like this, maybe because they were young and still full of energy.
The hill is close to Malaysia's border. So you will see here to land (Malaysia and Thailand) on one hill. The Bald Mountain has 360 degrees panoramic view. From the top, you will see the rubber plantation below.
I will surely come back here on cold season. Maybe the best time to come here is from October to February. I think Thailand has cold weather on these months. I will be back again in December to see the clouds. I hope the fogs won't play hide and seek to me again.
