Natural Emerald Pool Krabi

Wednesday, August 15, 2018

Emerald pool is famous for its natural emerald spring water. It is a place where you shouldn't miss when visiting Krabi Thailand. It is located at Moo 2 Tambon Khlong Thom Nuea, Amphoe Khlong Thom, Chang Wat Krabi Thailand. For Google Map click here. You can call this number 087 477 1105 for inquiry. It is a famous destination in Krabi but it is in between Krabi and Trang Province. It is far from the city of Krabi and less than an hour to travel.

You can get here by car or you can also rent a motorbike for 200 - 250 baht a day. The google map will help you with the direction. Tour agencies offer a tour package to get here.

We travel from Hatyai at 3:00 o'clock in the morning to get here early. We arrived before 8:00 o'clock in the morning just minutes before it will open. For foreigners like us, we need to pay 200 baht for adult and 100 for children. For Thai people, only 20 baht for adult and 10 baht for children. It is OK to pay that much because the place is worth to visit. They will close at 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon.

Bringing food inside is highly prohibited and be sure to bring bottled water. Swimming can be a bit thirsty too. There are many shops and restaurants outside. We paid 40 baht per car for the parking space but I don't know how much for a motorbike. Since we came early, we park our car near the gate. But the parking lot near the gate is full around 11 in the morning

1400 meters trek
Upon entering the premises, you have two choices to get to the emerald pool. Go straight for 800 meters walk with the half sand and haft concrete trek. Turn right and you see a 1,400 meters concrete trail that will take you to the emerald pool. I recommend you go on this way for sightseeing.

In this way, you will see some springs, virgin forest, and the Sra Kaew. Sra Kaew or Glass Pool is like as Emerald Pool including sandstone, limestone, siltstone, and conglomerate. The Stratum are alternate layers of thinness thickness and clear stratigraphic column. It is roughly 35 meters wide, 45 meters long and 1-3 meters deep.

Sra Kaew or Glass Pool
After almost 10 minutes of walking, finally, we arrived at our destination, the Emerald Pool. Since we arrived so early, we only saw 2 people earlier than us. The Emerald Pool is so amazingly emerald colour and picturesque. As if I am looking at the wallpaper on my laptop.

The water is crystal clear emerald green which is good for our body. They put some boardwalk around the pool because it is very slippery. You must be very careful in this part of the pool. The colorful fishes are swimming with us. The water is not cold. I can't feel any coldness unlike swimming in an ordinary spring.

We didn't take a chance to visit the Blue Lagoon because it is closed from May to October because it is a breeding season for the birds. You can't go swimming in the Blue Lagoon. It is just for sightseeing. I am planning to come here again on April to see the Blue Lagoon.

People started to flocks around 10 in the morning. So the emerald pool is a little bit crowded at this time. Tourists who avail tour package from tour agencies arrived before 11:00 o'clock in the morning. The place is so crowded now so we decided to go home before noon and have some lunch somewhere.

As we follow the 1.4 meters concrete trail going back to our car. We bumped many tourists going to the Emerald Pool and the walkway was quite full. We were lucky to arrive early when the place is still quiet and relaxing.

around 10 am
You can change clothes in the toilet inside but we choose to leave our things inside the car. So we just paid 5 baht in the toilet outside. Outside the parking lot are full of cars and vans from tour agencies.

The best time to come here is early in the morning around 8:00 o'clock in the morning and don't forget to put sunscreen before swimming. Watch Youtube Video down here.
