If you are looking for a place to go hiking on a holiday or wanting to get your body sweat, this place is good for you. It is a place where you can learn or study artifacts. The Old Fortress of Singora No.10 Songkhla is located at the top of the Hua Khao (Hua Hill), Singhanakhon District, Songkhla. It is open any time of the day but if you plan to go hiking in Hua Khao you must come in a group. This is not a famous tourist destination so it is not really known but it is a historical place. To get started you must stop at the Tourist Service Building located at Hua Khao, Singhanakhon District, Songkhla. Google map click here. You can park your car here and this is where the stairs located going to the hilltop. Before you go up, be sure to bring bottled water and snacks. You can have some snacks on the top of the hills while enjoying the scenery but make sure you take your trash when with you.
To go to the Old Singora Fortress No. 10 and to the White Pagoda and Black Pagoda, you must take the old paved cemented stairs. I get tired of counting the stairs so I can't tell you how many steps you need to take. The paved stairs are made of cement and bricks. It looks old and colorful. It won't be hot to come here any time of the day since it is in the middle of a forest. It is shady and windy.
Along the way, you can find this fort no. 4. It is built onto the slope of Hua Hill. The fort is 4.4 meters high and approximately 5.5 meters by 8.5 meters internal dimension. There are 14 forts built on and around the Khao Hua.
The Singora Fort No. 10 was built way back the 18th century. The fort was set on the Hua Hill or Khao Hua. Maybe in the past, when standing from here it can be 360 degrees view and this fortress served as a watchtower and a turret to protect the Singora City from invasion. But currently, you can only see 180 degrees panoramic view of the city of Songkhla and Songkhla Lake.
The Old Singora Fortress No. 10 served as a gunnery of the ancient sultanate city which is the origin of Songkhla first generation. The fort has a rectangular shape, 15 meters wide, 30 meters high and 3.50 meters high. If you are interested in the history of this place you can read the full story online on Wikipedia. The Gunnery Fortress around the old city of Singora was built on the 1830s.
Not far from the Old Singora Fortress are the Black and White Pagoda. The White Pagoda and the Black Pagoda were built during the 1930s also. There is a Chinese Pavilions in the middle of two pagodas. These two pagodas have an interesting story of the rebellion and invasion.
The White Pagoda is still in its good shape. It was made of hard cement and painted in white. While the Black Pagoda is made of glued bricks and the structure is dilapidated. Locals come here to offer some prayers. Watch YouTube Video down here.
