I have been here in Thailand and staying in Hatyai for more than 4 years now. Whenever I go to Central Festival, Macro or Tesco Lotus, I always saw this Big Buddha Statue. I always wonder about this place. I knew it's a temple with Big Buddha Statue and many other Buddha relics like many other temples I have been to. I really wanted to visit this place. For Google map click here.
Finally, I was able to ask my husband to come here and take a look. Why it is not a famous tourist destination like many temples that have a Big Buddha Statue. Even though you are not a Buddist like me. People come and visit to take pictures of the Big Buddha in the temple.
We arrived there after lunch around past 2 in the afternoon. It wasn't a hot day, so we decided to go anywhere in Hatyai and this was included in our destination for that day. First, it is really hard to park the car so we park it along the road outside. Then when we enter the premises. It was full of buildings that we really don't know where to go or the way to the Big Buddha Statue.
The picture above is the entrance to the Big Buddha Statue. Looking at these pictures, there is ongoing building construction at the back of this Buddha Structure. We didn't get closer because they might be falling debris from the construction site. We just find another way.
We got into this place picture at the above. It's a Chinese Cemetery perhaps it's an old cemetery but I'm not really sure. The Ashes was inside this Buddha Structure. There are people in the temple who are cleaning or doing something for the temple. They are watching us because we are the only tourist there. So we didn't get closer to the Big Buddha because we don't know the way and we felt ashamed looking out to the people who are staring on us. We decided to go home.
Overall, this is not a place to look around or even a tourist destination. It is a cemetery and a temple to pray for Buddist believers.
