This is it, Kao Niao Durian or sticky rice with durian. To those Durian lovers like me, you have to try this Thai dessert. This is a famous Thai dessert. You can also find this in the market for only 23 - 30 baht per serve but the taste is not really delicious. The Kao Niao Durian in the market has a little bit of durian only. I am not satisfied with the taste when I tried to buy it at the market twice.
I taste it for the first time in my former school. They give me free lunch and whenever I see this on the menu. I'm really overjoyed by just looking at it. I am really a durian lover and this dessert want me to eat more and more. Since then, Kao Niao Durian is one of my favorite dishes.
"Kao" means rice in English and "Niao" means sticky. Some restaurant offers this dessert too. This Thai dessert is seasonal since durian is a seasonal fruit. It is a little bit expensive when you eat it in the restaurant. Probably 50 - 100 baht, it's a reasonable price since durian is an expensive fruit also. The taste of Kao Niao Durian in a restaurant is yummier than that sold in the market.
Kao Niao Durian is sticky rice with a mixture of durian, coconut milk, and sugar. I will surely learn how to make this one. I think it is easy to cook. I will update my blog next time. I will show you how to cook it.
This picture above is also Kao Niao Durian but as you can see, you can just find a seed of durian. I bought this in the market. Just to satisfied my cravings since I saw it in the market. I bought it for 25 baht at Koh Mee Market. Aside from Kao Niao Durian, there is also Kao Niao Mamuang. Kao Niao Mamuang is a sticky rice with mango. "Mamuang" means mango in English. You must also try it.
