I always travel by plane from Singapore to Hatyai Thailand and vice versa. This time to try something I never did before and to save money as well I traveled to Hatyai Thailand from Singapore by bus. I tried really hard to research it online but I can't find the answer to my questions. Despite that, I still traveled by bus alone. Anyway, though I don't know what to do, I know I can still reach Hatyai Thailand by bus.
Thank God, the plane landed safely on Changi Airport Singapore from Davao Philippines. As I started to queue in the immigration officer. Oh! they are very strict, the immigration officer asked me "Where are you going?". I answered her calmly. She asked for my plane ticket. I told her I will go to Hatyai Thailand by bus. She asked again for my bus ticket which I don't have. I told her that I will buy somewhere. She said, "where?". As I can't answer her question, she asked the other person to interrogate me in the office.
I told myself, it's OK. Just be honest with them because I won't really stay in Singapore. In the office, they ask me a lot of things like pocket money and where I am going. I told them I am a teacher in Thailand. I showed them the documents I have including my work permit. They asked me why I only have 50 dollars. I told them, my husband is in Thailand. I won't stay in Singapore anyway and my money is more than enough for a bus fare to reach Hatyai. Perhaps, they were satisfied with my answer and so they let me go.
Lesson learned, even if you just going to stop over in Singapore, be sure to have a plane ticket or a bus ticket on hand. You can book online at 12Go or BusOnline. If you are planning to have a holiday vacation in Singapore prepare a hotel reservation to avoid getting interrogated.
I asked the information desk on how do I get to Hatyai Thailand by bus. She told me I can ride a taxi going to the Golden Mile Complex or take an MRT tomorrow morning. I stayed overnight at Changi Airport and wake up early before 5:00 o'clock in the morning since the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit). I observe people on how do they buy a ticket. They buy an MRT card first in an electronic machine.
So, I bought an MRT Card on an electronic machine. The instruction is very easy to follow. I ride an MRT and stop by at the Lavender Station and walk to the Golden Mile Complex. I saw a travel agency outside of Golden Mile Complex and asked them that I would like to buy a ticket going to Hatyai Thailand. He said it's not available. Booking early online is the only key to travel Singapore to Hatyai. There is only 1 bus going to Hatyai every day. It leaves around 7:00 o'clock in the evening. You can book a ticket online at BusOnline to secure your ticket ahead.
So I find another option. I asked again for a bus ticket going to Kuala Lumpur. He told me again, it's fully booked. It is really necessary to buy a ticket ahead of time. Again, you can buy it online at 12Go or BusOnline. You can ride a bus from Golden Mile Complex to TBS Malaysia and from TBS Malaysia to Hatyai Thailand. Ticket and time schedule is available online. Since the bus is fully booked I had to find an alternative way to travel Hatyai Thailand from Singapore.
The travel agent offered me a bus going to Malacca City, Malaysia as an option. He told me I can ride a bus going to Hatyai from Malacca City. Since I don't have a choice. I bought a bus ticket going to Malacca. From Malacca, I bought a bus ticket going to Hatyai. I reach Hatyai Safely on the next day.
