I always wanted to visit a zoo when I was young and finally I was able to do it. Visiting a zoo is fun and exciting. I was able to meet the animals that I can only see in the pages of the book or see them through the internet. I was fascinated and I gazed every animal I see in awe.
Songkhla Zoo is located at Khao Rup Chang, Mueang Songkhla District, Songkhla. For Google map click here. You can get here in two ways. If you are new in Songkhla and didn't know which way to take. Use the google map to get to the nearest way to get here. You can either enter from the highway of 4309, it's the road that connects Songkhla going to Chana or the Kanjanavanich Road near Tesco Lotus Songkhla.
You must spend the whole day in the Zoo to visit all the places. For an entrance fee, Adult Thai Citizen is 100 baht, 200 baht for children and Elders over 60 years old are free. For foreigners 150 baht for adult and 70 baht for children. Children below 5 years old are free of charge. Parking is not free, you need to pay 10 baht for motorcycle, 50 baht for car and 60 for Bus. The Zoo opens every day from 8:30 in the morning and close at 5:30 in the afternoon.
The Zoo is really big. Come here early and take a tour around. I am sure your family will enjoy visiting this place. Don't forget to wear a hat, bring bottled water and swimwear. You can drive around the park with your car or motorcycle. The zoo is too big that you will get tired of walking. You can also ride the minibus for 20 baht to go around every corner of the park. There are shops, food stalls, and restaurant inside. You can feed the animals like elephants, hippo, giraffe, zebra and many more for 20 to 100 baht per basket or per bunch of food.
The survival show will start at 10:30 - 11:00 and the second round at 1:30 - 2:00. The survival shows, includes talking birds, animals who swim and collect garbage from the mini pond. Some birds and animals that come in when the announcer says come out and go back when he says go back now. It was so fun and enjoyable show.
After watching the first show, we then proceed to the next show which is the Penguin Show or The Seal Show. It starts at 11:30 - 12:00 and the second round at 2:30 to 3:00 pm. Either they will have a sea lion show or a penguin show. Both are fun and enjoyable. It so amazing how these animals were so obedient. They clap their hands too. They sometimes allow the seal to kiss on the chick of the audience.
After watching the Penguin Show we moved to the last show. The Tiger Feeding Show starts at 12:30 - 1:00 pm and second round 3:30 - 4:00 pm. In this show, the tiger even climbs up and jump just to eat the meat. They jump gracefully and their bodies were dancing in the wind. They landed in a murky pond. They look scary but it's exciting to watch the show.
If ever you miss the first round of the show, you can just see it in the second round. After watching the first round of all the shows, we continue seeing some animals that we miss in the morning since the show will start. We were able to enjoy the water park in the afternoon. If you didn't bring a swimwear. You can just rent a suit for 30 baht. There is a long slider in the pool. The pool is not deep, only about 3 feet. Adult and children can enjoy swimming while watching the breathtaking view of the city of Songkhla.
