Visiting Kho Samui is one of my long list of places I want to visit in Thailand. Finally, I was able to visit it last summer 2016. A very famous small island in southern Thailand. It's famous for its white sand beaches. It's very far from the place where I stay so I really spend a day visiting some famous tourist destination in Kho Samui. We rented a motorcycle for 250 baht to use 24 hours a day.
Wat Plai Laem is located at Road 4171, Thailand, Tambon Bo Put, Amphoe Ko Samui, Chang Wat Surat Thani. For Google map click here. It's a temple with huge Buddha statues. They look like a floating Buddha and temple because they were located in the middle of a lake. There are 4 huge statues adjacent to each other. Buddist believer comes here to offer prayers but as for us we just come here for sightseeing.
The place is free to enter but you can give donations. It's clean and has a big parking space for your vehicles. The parking lot is free of charge. This place is a temple so its a sacred place. Be sure to wear clothes that cover your shoulders and knees. Leave your slippers, shoes, and sandals in the doorstep of each statue. It's a beautiful, colorful and massive place to stroll around and took pictures. We actually spend 30 minutes strolling here. You can also buy 10 baht fish food to feed the fishes.
The best time to come here is early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the heat of the sun. We visited it late in the afternoon before going to Big Buddha. I don't know on the other day but when we visited this place its not so crowded so we had a lot of opportunities to take beautiful pictures. Actually, for me, I like this place than the Big Buddha of Kho Samui.
