When visiting Singapore, of course, you shouldn't miss visiting the famous landmark, The Merlion of Singapore. I really want to take a photo with this statue but this time the Merlion really disappoint us. πThe Merlion is a half fish and a half lion statue. It's located just in front of Marina Bay Sand. For Google map click here. So judging from the google map, we thought we can just walk from Marina Bay Sand up to the Merlion Statue. Since we really don't know the way to the Merlion Statue we just rely on our information from the internet and from the people we ask along the way.
According to the taxi driver whom we met when we went to Garden By The Bay earlier this morning. I had a chitchat with the taxi driver at that time, asking him for some information about Singapore. We just need to walk for 10 minutes from Garden By The Bay. He also said the Merlion will release the water from his mouth at 10 in the morning. He mentions also that the Merlion is currently sleeping.
A kind man whom we meet at the Marina Bay Sand takes us outside and showed us the way to the Merlion. When asked if we can just walk from here. He said it can walk and we just need to go this way pointing to the right side of the bayfront. He also mentions that the Merlion is currently sleeping. Judging from where we started which is the Marina Bay Sand Bayfront, it's really far and perhaps more or less an hour of walking. So we started to walk which is our biggest mistake. We ended up paying more.
We walk down the aisle and ended up in a boating station. We're very tired at that time and thought that we just have to ride this boat to reach our destination as soon as possible. They charge us 6 SGD for each passenger. So we had our 10 minutes boating ride and 2 minutes walk to reach the iconic Merlion Statue.
Finally, we arrived at Merlion Statue and to our biggest dismay, The iconic Merlion Statue is really sleeping π
. We were very disappointed because, when locals said that the Merlion is sleeping they really mean it's under maintenance. When they said it's sleeping, we thought that it's because it wasn't 10 am yet. It's still sleeping and will wake up at 10 am where the water will come out from its mouth.
Sleeping means it's under maintenance. We just spend 6 SGD riding a boat and ended up here and we weren't able to see the Merlion because it's covered with a black tarp on all sides and we can't even see it. πIt's so disappointing, when will I be able to come back here again to see it? I don't know when. π£
We just take a look around and take a photo with this small iconic Merlion Statue instead. Probably the best we can do. It's better to ride a taxi from Garden By The Bay going to the Merlion Statue. From here we're planning to take an MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) going to Sentosa Island. We walk for less than 1 kilometer from Merlion Statue to reach the MRT Station.
