A day after we traveled to Singapore, we are now visiting probably the most famous temple and cave in Malaysia which is the Batu Cave. Starting from KL Sentral train station we rode a train going to Batu Cave for 3.1 MYR (Malaysian Ringgit). It's probably not a rapid train because it seems that our travel time is almost 30 minutes but the price ticket is probably the cheapest. You can also ride a bus or taxi from The KL Sentral.
The Batu Cave is located at Gombak, 68100 Batu Caves, Selangor Malaysia. For your google map reference click here. The last destination of the train is the Batu Cave and from Batu Cave train station you can walk for 2 minutes to reach the famous Batu Cave.

A view from the top of the stairways |
The place is so colorful and magnificent. There is no entrance fee upon entering this place, which is good for tourists. There is a huge giant statue of Hindu God outside the cave. So, it means it's a Hindu temple. There is a temple outside but the main temple is located inside the cave. You have to climb hundreds of colorful stairs to see what's inside the huge cave. Be careful when going up, there are lots of monkeys around so be careful with your things. Especially don't hold something like a plastic bag or a plastic bag. The monkey will pay too much attention to a plastic bag that they do anything to snatch it from you.
If you have something like food in a plastic bag, maybe you can put it in your bag. Don't wear a hat also or something that can be easily taken from you. The monkeys are not afraid of humans and they are not harmful but they are a bunch of robbers. 😂

There are also things you need to consider when you want to visit the Batu Caves. Thing like proper attire. You cannot wear shorts or above the knee dress. If you come here wearing un appropriate attire, they will ask you to rent a scarf to cover your knees for 5 MYR but you can get your 2 MYR deposit when you return the scarf. So, the rent of a scarf is 3 MYR.
Inside the big cave is the home of monkeys, bats, and doves. The cave is cold but because we climb up the stairs, our sweat is non-stop and it feels so hot. There is a temple inside where tourist can pray but you have to leave your slippers or shoes before entering the temple. It has tiny drops of water from the top of the cave so be careful it might be slippery.

You can ask the monks here to pray for you but they will ask you to pay. |
There are lots of shops around and the big parking lot but the parking space is not free. Don't forget to buy your souvenir at the souvenir shop around here. The toilet is not free, it cost 0.50 MYR and the toilet is located on your right side when facing the cave.
The best time to come here is early in the morning and late in the afternoon. The sun rises at 7 am in the morning and the sunset is 7 pm in Malaysia. We went here around 4:30 in the afternoon and it takes at least 2 hours to climb up the stairs and rest. It's not good to come here in the middle of the day since you have to climb up a hundred stairs. We decided to leave the place at around 7 in the evening.
