This is my favorite place in Chiang Mai. It is very far from the city center. We had probably traveled 3 hrs to get here via motorcycle. The road going here is very steep. It is situated at the top of the mountain and it's part of Doi Inthanon National Park. It is located at Ban Luang, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai. For google map click here. It is open from 6 in the morning to 6 in the evening. You have to come here before 4 in the afternoon so you have enough time to go around the park.
The place is like a fairytale to me. The park has a twin Pagoda or it is also famous as the King and Queen Pagoda. The two Pagodas were surrounded with beautiful and colorful flowers. We left Chiang Mai City at 8 in the morning and arrived here around 12 noon. Entering the Doi Inthanon National Park you have to pay for 300 baht for foreigners but only 50 baht for Thai people. You have to pay also for the vehicles too. Our rented motorcycle cost 20 baht and a car probably cost 50 baht. Upon entering the King and Queen Pagodas Park you have to pay again 40 baht.
The park has a shop where you can buy souvenirs and I didn't expect that the food was cheap and the taste is good. I thought the price is expensive because it is very far from the city but the prices of the food and other stuff is the same in the city. We had Pad Pak Ruam (mix vegetables) with rice for lunch and it cost only 60 baht and 10 baht for the bottled water. They have a free wide parking lot and the toilet is very clean too. The water in the toilet is cold and it looks like it's from inside the fridge. A lot of tourists visited this place even though is it very far from the heart of the city of Chiang Mai.
After having our lunch we enjoy a fairytale place. It was 18 degrees Celcius at the top of the mountain. The weather is very cold so you have to wear your jacket and scarf too. The fogs are welcoming us. Everything is beautiful and wonderful to me. A mesmerizing place to visit. I can't believe I have visited this kind of place. It was the most unforgettable feeling for me. At first, I was hesitant to visit it because it is very far and I don't believe that the pictures of this place are real. Wow, really it's like paradise to me. I will probably visit this place again in the future even it is very far. When you plan to visit Chiang Mai in the future, you must add this to your bucket list. I highly recommended this place and its really worth to visit.
The two Pagodas have an escalator going up only. So you won't get tired climbing the stairs. Going down you don't have a choice but to use the stairs. Inside the Pagodas, the wall was elegantly decorated and the ceilings too. You have to leave your shoes or slippers if you wish to go inside the Pagoda. You can also read how this place was created in the entrance of the stairs which lead to the Pagodas.
