As the world is suffering from the pandemic CoVid19 virus. Our OFW teachers in Thailand also suffered the same fate with the "No Work, No Pay" policy for the next 3 months. As the Ministry of Education moved the opening of classes on July 1, 2020. The schools usually open in the second week of May, but because of this pandemic, they have decided to move it for everyone's safety. Our Filipino teachers here in Thailand need help to survive until the end of July this year.
Hince The United Filipino in Thailand (UFT) launched recently the "UFT CoVid19 Food Packs Project our Community Service Helping Hands Program" that aims to help our Kababayan here in Thailand. Led by the former UFT President Ms. Bing Macatangay Arias and her team. Everyone is welcome to join hands in this campaign.
Since I was entangled with my sister who led the campaign here in Hatyai. I tried to send messages to my friends and co-teachers and I was fortunate enough that Ms. Vipawan Dedchdee who treated me like her sister, replied to me with good news. She works at the Tourist Assistant Center (TAC-Songkhla). She and her team help us connect with The Thai Red Cross Society and Tong Sai Siang Tung Foundation Hatyai.
We went to the office of Tong Sai Siang Tung Foundation Hatyai and Ms. Dedchdee together with her boss and colleague introduced us to the foundation. They are so accommodating to us and welcome us with a big smile. We are so happy that we forget the social distancing at that time and there was a staff who always remind us to stay at least 1 meter to each other.
They give us an initial of 30 packs of relief goods and told us they are willing to give more. They loaded it into our car but since they give us a lot. It won't fit in our car. So they offered free delivery to my sister's house. That's more convenient to us and it makes us jump for joy.
We are really thankful to The Tourist Assistance Center (TAC-Songkhla), The Thai Red Cross Society and Tong Sai Siang Tung Foundation for helping us Filipinos here in Hatyai, Thailand. The Filipino people won't forget your kindness. We hope everyone to stay safe at home until this pandemic is over so that we can go back to the life that we used to be. Together "We survive as one"
